Deutsche Börse has expanded its international DAXglobal index range by adding eleven new China indices, the DAXglobal China index, which tracks the country’s 40 largest and most liquid companies in China, and 10 sector indices.

The DAXglobal Sektor indices complement the China index by facilitating investment in the basic resources, construction and materials, environmental protection, financial services, food and beverages,
infrastructure and transport, real estate, technologies and telecommunications, and utilities sectors.

Chinese companies are selected for the DAXglobal China index on the basis of market capitalisation and daily trading volume. Each sector index comprises a maximum of 15 constituents, weighted according to exchange turnover. The China index is calculated as a price and performance index in euros, US dollars and sterling, while the sector indices are each calculated as a price and performance index in euros only.

The index composition is reviewed once a year with reweighting undertaken on a quarterly basis. To date there are international DAXglobal indices for Russia, India, Asia, the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and emerging markets, as well as for the alternative energy, agriculture and nuclear energy sectors.

Deutsche Börse’s market data and analytics division calculates and publishes a total of more than 2,100 indices, and compiles and distributes independent capital market information, such as price data, trading statistics and back office information, to banks and financial institutions.
