Dow Jones Indexes, a global index provider, has announced the Dow Jones-AIG Grains sub-Index has been licensed to Horizons BetaPro Funds to underlie two, leveraged commodity ETFs.

The Horizons BetaPro DJ-AIG Agricultural Grains Bull Plus ETF and Horizons BetaPro DJ-AIG Agricultural Bear Plus ETF both launched recently on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

This is the first time the Dow Jones-AIG Grains sub-Index will serve as the basis of Canadian ETFs. As of March 11, 2008, the one-year performance of the Dow Jones- AIG Grains Sub-Index is 62.50 per cent.

Says Michael Petronella, president of Dow Jones Indexes,
‘Commodities continue to be a popular choice among market participants seeking to gain exposure to alternative asset classes. Since the launch of the broadly diversified Dow Jones-AIG Commodity Index, we’ve expanded the line up to include single commodity and sector indices, which provide specific views of the commodity futures markets.

‘The Dow Jones-AIG Grains sub-Index is an ideal benchmark of the performance of the corn, soybeans and wheat futures markets.’

As of the end of the fourth quarter of 2007, there is an estimated USD42bn tracking the DJ-AIGCI, out of a total of approximately USD155bn tracking commodities using long only index strategies. Index methodology and futures contracts used to calculate the index are published in the DJ-AIGCI Handbook which can be requested via www.djindexes.com.
