WisdomTree Investments has hired David Abner as director of institutional exchange-traded fund sales from BNP Paribas, where he was a managing director and head of ETF trading.
‘WisdomTree will benefit from Dave’s vast experience trading ETFs and related instruments with a wide array of institutional clients,’ says chief executive Jonathan Steinberg. ‘The addition of Dave’s ETF background and customer relationships further bolsters an already strong WisdomTree sales team.’
Abner says: ‘I am excited to be joining a leader in the ETF industry. I was attracted by WisdomTree’s innovative approach to investing and a product set of some 40 funds which I believe have broad appeal and vast potential for the institutional investment community.’
Before joining BNP Paribas in 2006, Abner was with Bear Stearns for 13 years, trading in index arbitrage, baskets, Asian equity and closed-ended funds before being tapped to head Bear’s ETF trading business.
WisdomTree Investments has developed a family of fundamentally weighted indices and ETFs covering all major market capitalisations in the US and internationally, an approach that it believes provides investors with a viable alternative to market capitalisation-weighted indices.
WisdomTree Trust is a Delaware statutory trust registered as an open-ended investment company with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Each WisdomTree ETF is a sub-fund of WisdomTree Trust, which had more than USD4.3bn in assets under management at the beginning of April.
