Invesco PowerShares Capital Management has announced the appointment of Thomas Centrone to the new position of senior vice-president and international product development manager.

Centrone, who brings to Invesco PowerShares more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, will be primarily responsible for the co-ordination and implementation of PowerShares’ exchange-traded funds outside the US.

 ‘We are pleased to bring aboard someone with the extensive background and experience of Thomas Centrone,’ says Ben Fulton, PowerShares’ executive vice-president for global product development.

‘This new position will serve a vital role in educating our new international clients and potential shareholders to the benefits of the ETF structure and the intelligently designed portfolios we intend to bring to market.’

Centrone has been a vice-president for new product development and ETF product manager for Bank of New York since 1997, responsible for the development of service delivery models for all new ETF products, including the PowerShares ETFs.

He was previously vice-president for new product development at Chase Manhattan Bank from 1995 to 1997. He began his career in 1970 at United States Trust Company, joined Bradford Trust Company in 1978 and returned to US Trust in 1985.

Invesco PowerShares offers more than 100 US, international and active exchange-traded funds with assets under management of USD13.86bn at the end of April.
