Exchange-traded fund provider Invesco PowerShares Capital Management has launched the PowerShares Emerging Markets Infrastructure Portfolio on the NYSE Arca trading platform.

The exchange-traded fund is based on the S-Network Emerging Infrastructure Builders Index, which aims to measure the overall performance of securities of companies involved in infrastructure construction and development in emerging market countries.

The fund will normally invest at least 80 per cent of its total assets in securities of companies involved in the construction and engineering, construction machinery, construction materials, diversified metals and mining, heavy electrical equipment, industrial machinery and steel sectors.

The underlying index currently includes the securities of 67 companies traded in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, the Russian Federation, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the US.

Invesco PowerShares manages more than 100 US and international index-based and actively managed exchange-traded funds, with combined assets under management of around USD13.95bn at the end of June.
