Barclays Global Investors’ iShares, the world’s biggest provider of exchange-traded funds, has appointed Nizam Hamid as a managing director and head of sales strategy for iShares in Europe

Barclays Global Investors’ iShares, the world’s biggest provider of exchange-traded funds, has appointed Nizam Hamid as a managing director and head of sales strategy for iShares in Europe.

His responsibilities will include driving thought leadership on investment solutions for sales and marketing in the European markets. Based in BGI’s London office, he will report to Andrea Morresi, head of sales for iShares in Europe.

Hamid joins from Deutsche Bank, where he has headed the global portfolio trading and index strategy team since 1998, and has more than 20 years’ experience as an analyst in the investment industry. He Nizam is a member of the FTSE and Stoxx index committees.

Says Morresi: ‘Nizam will bring his considerable research experience to the fore and will prove invaluable in educating and advising clients, ultimately reinforcing iShares’ position as a leader in developing client-focused solutions.

‘There is considerable scope for investors to benefit from the opportunities and efficiency offered by iShares for portfolio construction, across a wide range of asset classes.’

Barclays Global Investors is one of the world’s largest asset managers with more than USD1.9trn in assets under management at the end of June. Having created the first index strategy in 1971 and the first quantitative active strategy in 1979, BGI is the global ETF leader with more than 330 iShares funds for institutions and individuals worldwide.
