London-base fund of hedge funds manager Fortune Asset Management has established a strategic partnership with HighView Financial Group, a financial advisory firm based in Oakville, Canada, to provide alternative asset management solutions to Canadian wealth management firms including advisory firms, asset managers, family offices and institutions.

‘While there is no shortage of hedge funds available today, the challenge for advisors and investors is more than ever truly to understand the structures, strategies, risks and opportunities with each,’ says HighView chief investment officer Greg Rodger.

‘In addition, it is always a challenge to know how best to include alternative strategies when structuring a robust portfolio. Fortune’s tremendous knowledge and experience in the alternatives space will allow HighView to address these issues in a disciplined and creative way for its clients.’

Mark Barnicutt, president and chief executive of HighView, says: ‘This exclusive relationship with Fortune allows HighView significantly to enhance our offering to clients by allowing us to address this important asset class in a very disciplined manner.

‘We were attracted by the quality and depth of due diligence that Fortune performs as well as its broad knowledge of the industry. We will use this partnership to integrate alternatives into the practice management and ongoing support solutions that we offer today.’

Fortune chief executive Simon Hopkins adds: ‘Fortune’s success around the world is built on relationships with industry practitioners who understand the challenges of our clients, and who build tailored solutions to meet them.

‘HighView’s experienced team now brings the full complement of investment management skills to its clients through this partnership with Fortune, including an important component of the offering with respect to alternatives.’

HighView designs, implements and operates asset management solutions for advisors, families and institutions in Canada. The Fortune Group, a subsidiary of independent merchant bank Close Brothers, offers multi-manager products as well as customised portfolio management for private wealth management groups, family offices, insurance companies, banks and pension funds.
