A group of industry experts has launched Darwin Financial Platform, a company offering full service business partnerships to starting investment managers.

The three main areas of focus for the company will be: facilitating the set up of new onshore and offshore funds, providing a wide range of middle-office services, and supporting the marketing and distribution of the funds.

Together with a range of domestic and international companies in the investment management industry, Darwin Financial Platform will be targeting small and mid sized alternative and traditional investment funds across different strategies.

The managing director of the new company is Clayton Heijman (photo). He has over 20 years’ experience in servicing the traditional and alternative investment industry around the globe for Goldman Sachs, Fortis and Calyon.

Heijman says: ‘The entire team is very thrilled with the official launch of our company in 2009 after a year that determined that change was needed. The financial industry is the perfect example where the fittest firms in the long run survive the periods of volatility, illiquidity and transition. In 2009 investors will again be looking for new investment opportunities. With the enormous pool of talent available, they are willing to invest in investment vehicles that have evolved from previous experiences.’

He says three investment funds have already signed up to the company’s services.
