The London Stock Exchange has announced that Lyxor has launched the UK’s first exchange traded note.

The Lyxor ETN Long Gold, which tracks the spot price of gold, has been admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange’s main market.

Pietro Poletto, head of ETFs and fixed income products for the London Stock Exchange Group, says: ‘We aim to offer investors access to a wide range of investment opportunities while retaining the benefits of simplicity, transparency and central counterparty security that are integral to trading on-exchange, so we are delighted to expand our exchange traded product range by welcoming the Lyxor ETN Long Gold on to our market.’
ETNs are secured notes designed to track the performance of a particular underlying asset. They are tradable in real-time during market hours allowing investors to access the market as they would shares, ETFs or ETCs.
