US exchange-traded fund turnover declined 3.7 per cent to USD83.2bn in the week to 6 April, according to a report by Deutsche Bank.

Turnover in the S&P 500 SPDR was USD29.8bn. The PowerShares QQQ Nasdaq 100 had turnover of USD5.0bn followed by the UltraShort S&P500 ProShares with turnover of USD4.6bn.

No new ETFs were launched.

Short-related ETF turnover declined 14.9 per cent to USD12.5bn being the second largest category of ETFs after the large cap ETFs.

Among the emerging country ETFs, iShares FTSE/Xinhua China ETF turnover was USD1,027m followed by the iShares MSCI Brazil ETF with turnover of USD882m.

In non-US developed market flows, iShares MSCI Japan had turnover of USD348m. In non-domestic regional flows, emerging market turnover was USD2.1bn and developed markets regional flows EAFE had turnover of USD1.4bn.

Total assets under management for equity based ETFs rose 7.7 per cent on the previous week to USD395bn.
