US exchange-traded fund turnover declined 5.3 per cent to USD78.8bn in the week ending 13 April, according to the latest report from Deutsche Bank.

US exchange-traded fund turnover declined 5.3 per cent to USD78.8bn in the week ending 13 April, according to the latest report from Deutsche Bank.

Turnover in the S&P 500 SPDR was USD28.2bn. The PowerShares QQQ Nasdaq 100 had turnover of USD4.9bn followed by the UltraShort S&P500 ProShares with turnover of USD3.8bn.

There was one new ETF launched. The new fund issued by Vanguard offers exposure to the global ex-US small cap segment and it is listed at NYSE Arca.

Short-related ETF turnover declined 13.8 per cent to USD10.8bn being the second largest category of ETFs after the large cap ETFs.

Among the emerging country ETFs, iShares FTSE/Xinhua China ETF turnover was USD1,002m followed by the iShares MSCI Brazil ETF with turnover of USD873m.

In non-US developed market flows, iShares MSCI Japan had turnover of USD325m. In non-domestic regional flows, emerging market turnover was USD2.1bn and developed markets regional flows EAFE had turnover of USD1.3bn.

Total assets under management for equity based ETFs rose 3.0 per cent to USD407bn.
