iShares, an exchange-traded fund provider, has appointed Julian Hince as business development officer for the IFA sector.

Hince will be responsible for developing iShares’ position within the intermediary channel. The firm says it has received growing interest from IFAs on how to incorporate ETFs into an investment portfolio.

Andrea Morresi, head of sales, iShares Europe, says: ‘Julian’s appointment reflects iShares’ conviction that ETFs are gaining in popularity and generating increasing interest from the intermediary community. Given that ETFs are low-cost, efficient and transparent products, IFAs have a significant role to play advising clients on how they work and how they can be used to their best advantage. iShares is committed to engaging with and briefing the adviser community through masterclasses and with educational materials. Julian will play an essential role in leading our IFA programmes and improving access to ETFs via third party platforms as well as via the intermediary channel.’

Hince joins iShares with over 17 years’ experience in the asset management industry. He served as client relationship director at Invesco Perpetual, where he helped to oversee the growth in their third party business and pioneered the firm’s investment training programme.

He was most recently head of strategic partners at Gartmore with responsibility for both their IFA and third party channel.
