iShares launches capital markets group in Asia Pacific

iShares, Barclays Global Investors’ exchange-traded fund business, has formed a new capital markets group for Asia Pacific.

The group will work closely with iShares participating dealers and market makers across the region to ensure liquidity and competitive pricing for iShares ETFs.

The group will focus on iShares counterparty management and client-service including market-making activities, broker-dealer education, and thought leadership with respect to iShares trading and analytics. It will also work with iShares clients on best-practice execution strategies while partnering with participating dealers to ensure good value for clients during the trading process.

The new group complements existing iShares capital markets service teams in both the US and in Europe.

The group is headed by Joseph Cavatoni, managing director for iShares capital markets in Asia-Pacific.

Cavatoni says: "The formation of this first-of-its-kind Capital Markets Group in Asia-Pacific is a testament to iShares’ commitment to this region. Our role is to help our clients in Asia-Pacific with best execution when trading iShares ETFs."

The group includes two new hires, David Mann and Leslie Chiu, as directors of iShares capital markets. The team is based in Hong Kong managing all iShares trading and capital markets relationships for the region. The focus of the team is on dealing with Asian market participants (including participating dealers, market makers and clients) in all trading matters related to iShares. This includes working with participating dealers for seed capital in future products and further developing the "ecosystem" for existing iShares products.

Nick Good, chief executive of iShares Asia-Pacific, says: "At iShares, our singular focus is the development, distribution, and efficient functioning of our ETFs around the world. The formation of a capital markets group in Asia-Pacific reflects this commitment to service and overall client-satisfaction while reinforcing our position as the world’s leading provider of ETFs."
