US ETF and ETN assets top USD700bn for first time


Assets in US listed exchange-traded funds and exchange-traded notes have passed USD700bn for the first time, totalling approximately USD704.9bn in September 2009, according to National Stock Exchange.

This is an increase of approximately five per cent over August 2009 month-end when assets reached USD672.3bn.

September 2009 net cash inflows from all ETFs/ETNs totalled approximately USD9.2bn, bringing the year-to-date total net inflow to over USD63bn.

At the end of September 2009, the number of listed products totaled 868, compared to 813 listed products one year ago.
