China A-Share ETF Series records HKD100m turnover on first trading day


Five iShares exchange-traded funds, including the world’s first China A-Share Sector ETF Series, have begun trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The new funds recorded a total turnover of more than HKD100m in their first day of trading.

The individual turnover of the five ETFs on 18 November were: iShares CSI A-Share Energy Index ETF HKD14.4m,  iShares CSI A-Share Financials Index ETF HKD16.1m, iShares CSI A-Share Infrastructure Index ETF HKD6.7m, iShares CSI A-Share Materials Index ETF HKD35m and iShares CSI 300 A-Shares Index ETF HKD28.3m.      

Nick Good, chief executive of iShares Asia-Pacific, says: “The listing of the world’s first China A- Share Sector ETF Series reflects our commitment to offering products uniquely relevant to investors in Asia.”

The listing of the new iShares ETFs coincided with the five year anniversary of the launch of the iShares FTSE/Xinhua A50 China Index ETF, the largest and most heavily traded ETF in Asia.
