Invesco PowerShares to launch four FTSE RAFI ETFs

Invesco PowerShares intends to launch four exchange-traded funds on 1 February 2010 to sit in its Fundamentally Weighted range of products.

The range, which already comprises five funds focused on the US, UK, Europe and the developed world equity markets, will be expanded by the following products:

• PowerShares FTSE RAFI Emerging Markets Fund
• PowerShares FTSE RAFI Asia Pacific Ex Japan Fund
• PowerShares FTSE RAFI Hong Kong/China Fund
• PowerShares FTSE RAFI All-World 3000 Fund

Invesco PowerShares defines its product range as three separate types of ETF: Intelligent Exposure, comprising all FTSE RAFI ETFs, including these new funds; Intelligent Access ETFs, comprising ETFs which give investors exposure to equity indices relating to investment themes such as private equity, agriculture, global water and clean energy; and Intelligent Index, an alpha seeking, quantitative, multi-factor strategy.

The market maker for the four newly-launched ETFs will be Susquehanna.

Tim Mitchell, head of listed fund sales for Invesco Perpetual, says: “We believe that the Research Affiliates Fundamental Index is a unique and intuitive passive investment strategy for investors looking for more intelligent market beta exposure. We are therefore widening the geographical scope of the range to now offer investors FTSE RAFI ETFs investing in both developed and emerging markets as well as providing a complementary range of funds giving exposure to long-term global investment themes.”
