Way launches green and gold portfolio funds

Way Fund Managers has launched two portfolios, green and gold, to supplement its core active, managed and balanced range.

Duncan Carmichael-Jack of Vestra Wealth is heading up the Way Green Portfolio Fund.
Ian Williams of Charteris Treasury Portfolio Managers is to manage the Way Charteris Gold Portfolio Fund.
“This is a landmark for WFM, as the funds are the first in an anticipated series of specialist offerings to be unveiled by The Way Group in 2010,” says WFM sales and marketing director Eddie O’Gorman (pictured). “And with two top tier managers in situ we anticipate exceptional performance in a recovering investment environment.
O’Gorman says gold has been a clear winner in recent years – traditionally seen as a wealth preserver, the asset class is also a useful hedge against the US dollar, while consumption is increasing markedly in both India and China.
The gold fund will invest predominantly in blue chip gold mining companies, although it will be able to invest in smaller mining firms and also companies dealing in other commodities, minerals and precious metals.
The WAY Green Portfolio Fund, a fund of funds, will be investing in funds and projects where there is a demonstrative track record. Overriding themes within the portfolio are alternative clean energy, water, waste management and recycling.
Investments will be made in funds from investment houses involved in the socially responsible arena, and whose main focus lies in environmentally friendly investing.
Both funds are suitable for a range of investment objectives, including inheritance tax mitigation, regular savings plans as well as lump sum investment – and both can be held within an Isa wrapper.
