Partners Capital appoints director of research

RELATED TOPICS

Partners Capital, a London and Boston based private investment office, has appointed Ethan Hall as director of research and Sean Farrell as an investment principal.

Hall was previously head of investment research at Centaur Financial Services, a USD100m fund management company he founded in 1995, which manages individually tailored portfolios for high net worth individuals and institutions.

Prior to founding Centaur Financial Services, Hall was a management consultant for Bain.

Farrell joins the team from 3i Quoted Private Equity, a 3i Group business which invests in public companies through negotiated transactions.

Prior to joining 3i, Farrell was a director at TDR Capital, a EUR2.1bn European private equity company, where his team handled transaction types such as controlled buyouts, public-to-privates including distressed debt situations and structured partnerships. He also served as Vice President of TPG Capital, an investment group that manages USD45bn of capital across several funds.

Stan Miranda, managing partner and founder of Partners Capital, says: “Ethan Hall and Sean Farrell are fantastic additions to our growing team at Partners Capital. Hiring Ethan as our first dedicated director of research is long overdue. He will head a team whose primary role is codifying our house view on the macroeconomic environment and translating that into tactical asset allocation moves. About the only thing we know for certain about 2010, is that asset allocation is going to make the biggest difference to performance. Ethan’s expertise in taking highly successful, often contrary, views on the global markets furthers our ability to deploy selective tactical portfolio moves which exploit the many opportunities born out of the recent major market dislocations.”

Hall says: “I am pleased to be joining Partners Capital, one of the few global teams of investors who can bring deep insights into every asset class which is the most critical ingredient to effective portfolio construction for clients. I look forward to contributing my capital markets and asset allocation experience to Partners Capital and its clients.”
