Daniel Charles to join William Blair as global head of distribution

William Blair has appointed Daniel P. Charles as global head of distribution for William Blair Investment Management, effective 10 March.

In this newly created position, he will report to Michelle R. Seitz, head of investment management and a member of the firm’s executive committee.

Charles is an investment industry veteran with 21 years of experience.

He joins the firm from Janus Capital Group where he has served as a member of its executive committee. As executive vice president and head of institutional and international, he has been responsible for Janus’s global institutional business, including sales, client service, and consultant relations.

"Dan will be an instrumental member of our leadership team. He will have responsibility for expanding our institutional, intermediary, and mutual fund businesses, working closely with me and others on strategic business issues. He brings extensive asset management industry expertise and appreciates the culture that has been cultivated by our private ownership," says Seitz.
 
Charles adds: "William Blair & Company is a very well-respected money manager and I am honored by the opportunity to join such a fine firm with an impeccable 75-year history. I believe the firm is well positioned to further build its client base through its world-class products and services."

Before his position at Janus, Charles was national head of sales for Bank of America Institutional Investment Solutions, and before that he spent 13 years with ING and Aetna Financial Services overseeing their sales and client service operations in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.

William Blair Investment Management is the asset management operation of William Blair, consisting of the institutional, mutual fund, and wealth management businesses.
