Salus Alpha Funds outperform other financial markets in April

Seven individual products managed by Salus Alpha recorded positive returns in April.

The Salus Alpha Managed Futures fund returned +10.24% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +8.76%. The fund’s performance was 11.37% better than the performance of the HFRX Macro Index for the period, and surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Managed Futures Index – which had a return of 0.30% – by 9.94%.

The Salus Alpha Multi Style fund returned +4.30% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +2.82%. The funds performance was 3.62% above the performance of HFRX Global Index for the period and surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Index – which had a return of 1.21% – by 3.09%.

The Salus Alpha Equity Hedged funs returned +3.13% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +1.65%. The fund outperformed the HFRX Equity Hedge Index by 2.19% and surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Long/Short Index – which had a return of 2.33% –  by 0.80%.

The Salus Alpha Commodity Arbitrage fund returned +3.08% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +1.60%. The fund outperformed the Dow Jones UBS Commodity Index by 1.15% during the reporting period, and was 2.23% better than the performance of HFRX Systematic Diversified Index. The fund’s preformance also surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Managed Futures Index – which had a return of 0.30% – by 2.78%.

The Salus Alpha Event Driven fund returned +2.57% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +1.09%. The fund’s performance for the period was 1.93% higher than the performance of the HFRX Event Driven Index and surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Event Driven Index – which had a reurn of 0.56% –  by 2.01%.

The Salus Alpha Directional Markets had a performance of +2.10% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +0.62%. The performance of Salus Alpha Directional Markets was 1.25% better than the performance of HFRX Systematic Diversified Index, and surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Managed Futures Index – which had a return of 0.3% – by 1.80%. The result was supported by the following sectors: Financials (+1.17%), Equities (+0.69%), with negative attribution from FX (+0.33%), with negative attribution from Interest Rates (-0.11%).

The Salus Alpha RN Special Situations fund returned  +1.71% for the month to date, outperforming the S&P 500 Index by +0.23%. The fund’s performance for the period was 1.07% higher than the performance of the HFRX Event Driven Index and surpassed the result of the Credit Suisse/Tremont AllHedge Event Driven Index – which had a return of 0.56% –  by 1.15%.
