While wealth managers were most attracted to strategic bonds and property in April, product providers were focused on specialist and global emerging markets funds, according to Cofunds.
Cofunds, the independent platform for financial planning, has broken down its institutional sales trends data into three distinct client bases: wealth managers, execution only and product providers.
Execution only clients were more aligned with wealth managers in April, as property was their fourth most popular sector although their most favoured sectors were corporate bonds followed by cautious managed.
Christopher James, director, institutional services at Cofunds said: “The sales trends for April on the institutional side give a real insight into the differing views of wealth managers, execution only and providers. An example of just this is the Strategic Bond sector having a successful month with wealth mangers and execution only (fifth most popular) whereas providers did not see it as such a key sector, with it only being placed as the 10th most popular sector.”
