Janus Capital Group has added Matthew Sommer to its retirement strategy group.
As director and senior retirement specialist, Sommer is responsible for enhancing Janus’s service to the firm’s clients in the tax-advantaged marketplace.
He will also serve as a resource and advocate for retirement issues across the firm.
Sommer reports to Russ Shipman, senior vice president and managing director of the retirement strategy group.
"The addition of Matt to our team is a huge win for Janus and our clients. He brings a vast reservoir of knowledge and experience in both private wealth matters and retirement issues," says Shipman. "Matt will help us achieve our goal of providing our clients with a retirement support system that is truly best-in-class."
Prior to joining Janus, Sommer was executive director of thought leadership and professional development with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. During his 17 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Sommer also served in leadership roles with the global wealth management, professional development and retirement planning groups.
"I am thrilled to join an investment management firm that is firmly committed to client service and satisfaction," says Sommer. "As more and more Americans enter retirement each year, this role allows me to do what I enjoy most, help clients successfully transition into their second act in life."
