Paul Hansen has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch Canada as head of the country’s structured solutions group.

Hansen has been brought on to oversee the array of retail structured products at the company.

"Paul is joining us at a time when market volatility is causing investors to re-evaluate their risk tolerance," says Lynn Patterson, president and country head of Bank of America Merrill Lynch Canada. "He will be in charge of developing innovative tools to help Canadian clients achieve their investment goals."

Hansen reports jointly to Patterson and Liam O’Neil, who heads the structured solutions group in the Americas out of New York.

Before joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Hansen was at CIBC from 2000 to 2009. During that time he held senior positions in structured products structuring and distribution.

Prior to that, Hansen earned his CA designation while at Arthur Andersen, where he was a risk management consultant for derivatives groups at financial institutions.
