Global sectors popular with institutional money in June

RELATED TOPICS

Global sectors enjoyed a booming month in June with wealth managers and execution only clients whilst product providers focused on the managed sectors, according to the latest sales breakdown from Cofunds institutional service.

Wealth managers and execution only clients both favoured a global outlook with global growth featuring in the top five selling sectors for both client bases.

Global bonds and global emerging markets also featured in both groups’ top five, taking fifth and third places respectively.

Product providers, namely underlying collectives supporting pension, bond and Sipp wrappers, were drawn to managed funds with cautious, balanced and active managed sectors making an appearance in their top six selling sectors.

Christopher James, director, institutional services at Cofunds, says: “June saw two of our three client bases take a notably global position. Where wealth managers favoured Standard Life Investment Global Index Linked Bond and Lazard Emerging Markets in their top ten selling funds, execution only clients preferred Aberdeen Emerging Markets and First State Global Emerging Markets Leaders. Although down from its peak in May the UK All Companies sector saw continuing popularity across all three groups, featuring in all their top four selling sectors.”

The highest net funds in June in the wealth managers sector were in the Legal & General Dynamic Bond, while execution only was the Legal & General UK Index, and product providers the M&G Strategic Corporate Bond.
