Legal & General Group has appointed Andrea Blance to the new role of group chief risk officer.
Blance, who is currently group financial controller, will take up her new role in August and will join the group’s executive committee.
The appointment is subject to FSA approval.
Blance will report to Nigel Wilson, group chief financial officer, and will work closely with the group’s risk committee, which is chaired by chairman John Stewart.
Blance says: “Risk management and mitigation represents a substantial challenge in the current economic environment and I look forward to ensuring that our strategic objectives, cash generation and profit targets are closely aligned with our risk appetite. It will be exciting and challenging to work closely with the group’s risk committee and John Stewart, who with Sir David Walker and other Legal & General board members has been instrumental in promoting good corporate governance and risk management both at Legal & General and more broadly across the UK corporate scene.”
Blance has 25 years of financial services experience. In her most recent role as group financial controller at Legal & General she has been responsible for driving improved return on capital performance through proactive capital management and developing the group’s financial performance management framework.
She has held a number of key divisional finance roles responsible for cost management and delivering improved profitability.
