Nikko AM hires Charlie Metcalfe following Charles Beazley’s move to Asia

Nikko Asset Management has hired Charlie Metcalfe as president of Nikko Asset Management Europe to run the firm’s business across Europe and the Middle East, as well as oversee the US operation.

The news follows Blair Pickerell’s recent appointment in Hong Kong as head of Asia and global chief marketing officer.

As part of Nikko AM’s senior management team, Charles Beazley has moved from London to Tokyo where he is now responsible for all Nikko AM’s businesses outside Japan as well as its Japanese institutional business. Both Metcalfe and Pickerell will report to Beazley.

Metcalfe is the former chief executive of First State Investments, a manager of Asian and emerging market investments. In a 23- year career in the investment and banking world, he has held the deputy chief executive role at Hermes Investment Management, helped build Goldman Sachs’s asset management business in the UK and northern Europe, and been managing director of Merrill Lynch Capital Management in London.
