MaxCap Partners expands investment team

Multi-family office MaxCap Partners has appointed award winning investment experts, Michel Piette and Ittan Ali as investment managers.

Piette and Ali will be co-managing the investment team, with Piette focusing primarily on hedge funds and commodities and Ali taking greater responsibility for equities.
“MaxCap was founded four years ago to meet the investment needs of the ultra high net worth families dissatisfied with the offerings of traditional private banks and wealth managers," says Mohammad Syed (pictured), MaxCap CEO. "Our investment team is formed of experts with deep, specialist knowledge to carefully strategise and manage clients’ investments. We hire the best, in order to be the very best, and I believe Michel and Ittan have the talent to excel at MaxCap and deliver outstanding results to our clients. I am delighted to welcome this exciting pair to the team and I look forward to working with them.”
With over seven years’ experience of investment management, Michel Piette is a specialist in commodities and hedge funds. He co-founded Moonraker Fund Management in 2008, and prior to this he was a hedge fund analyst for the TRF Fitzwilliam Funds at BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management for four years. He also spent two years at Towers Perrin, as an associate in charge of alternative investments within Asset Consulting.

Piette has been on award-winning teams, both recognised by Hedge Funds Review as the Best Performing European Energy/Commodity Fund of Hedge Funds in its 2007 and 2009 annual awards. Piette holds a Bachelors degree in Finance from Universite Laval in Quebec City, Canada – his home country. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Ittan Ali is an equities expert and has over a decade’s experience in investment management. Previously, Ali was at Majedie Investments for six years as a senior investment manager and analyst for the Global Equity Fund. He also spent time at TRW Investment Management as a senior fund manager, and most recently at Utilico Ltd as a senior equity analyst. Ali holds an MSc in Development Studies and Emerging Markets Economics from London University, and a BA (Hons) in Economics from Manchester University.
