Barings grows European mutual fund business

RELATED TOPICS

Baring Asset Management has planned to grow its European mutual fund sales operations, following significant client demand in the region.

Oliver Morath, Managing Director of Baring Asset Management, Germany, has been appointed to the role of Head of Europe and MENA, effective immediately and based in Frankfurt. He reports to George Harvey, Head of Sales, Client Service & Business Development. Howard Luder has been appointed as his replacement, in the role of Head of Sales, Baring Asset Management, Germany. He will report to Morath and starts on 24th January, based in Frankfurt.

Morath joins from the Royal Bank of Canada Dexia where he was Director of Business Development, Asset Servicing Germany. He was responsible for advising German institutional clients and asset managers on how to launch or restructure investor strategies and all elements of asset servicing. Prior to this he was European Head of Consulting for Morgan Stanley Investment Management in Frankfurt, having previously held roles within Business Development across European markets.

The firm has also created two new senior roles of Head of Switzerland and Head of Northern Europe for which it is currently recruiting. Morath says: “It is a very exciting time for Barings and I am thrilled to be leading this expansion in continental Europe.  We welcome Howard as a strong addition to the team and are confident that his vast experience in German markets will allow us to continue to build the business there. We have made the decision to create two new senior sales roles, focussing on Switzerland and Northern Europe, following the growth of our business in Germany over the past couple of years and our desire to see this growth extend further into these important markets".
