RSM Tenon has appointed John Porteous (pictured) to the financial management team, with responsibility for further developing the firm’s Investment and Technology propositions.

With more than 20 years experience in financial services, John will spearhead the development of the business area which will house RSM Tenon’s wealth platform and investment propositions. He will look to develop additional direct to market services targeted at a large proportion of the ever-growing RSM Tenon client base.

John joins the firm from Australian bank Macquarie, where he was Head of Distribution in the UK. He has also previously held a number of senior leadership positions including Head of Private Clients at BDO Stoy Hayward Investment Management, Chairman of the Society of Financial Advisers (SOFA), and Board Director of the Institute of Financial Planning.

John White, RSM Tenon Head of Financial Management says: ’Our industry and its distribution channels are evolving, and our propositions and services must meet the challenges from both consumers and regulators. Bringing John Porteous on board is part of our strategic plan to bring people into the organisation that can help position our business for the future, and I’m delighted that he is now part of our team.’

Porteous says: ‘I am looking forward to joining such a dynamic and growth focused organisation. This is a very exciting time for the financial planning industry and full of opportunity for professional firms aligning their advice proposition with the needs of their clients.’
