Van Eck Global launches Market Vectors Mortgage REIT Income ETF

Mortgage Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) have featured yields significantly higher than many income-oriented investments in recent years, providing a potential opportunity for income‐seeking investors. Van Eck Global is giving investors the opportunity to add exposure to this asset class with the launch of the Market Vector Mortgage REIT Income ETF (ticker: MORT), which tracks an index that offers pure play exposure to the mortgage REIT marketplace.

MORT seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the performance of the Market Vectors Global Mortgage REITs Index (ticker: MVMORTTR), a capitalisation-weighted index that requires constituent companies to derive at least 50 per cent of their revenues from mortgage REITs. This includes companies and trusts which are primarily engaged in the purchase or service of commercial or residential mortgage loans or mortgage‐related securities.
