Todd D Young and Brad A Meeks have joined the RS Investments’ Core Growth Team based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as equity research analysts.

“Todd and Brad are both experienced analysts that have covered an impressive list of companies across industries, sectors and value chains. Their focus on understanding competitive, structural and economic advantages is consistent with the long term business model focus of our team,” says Larry Coats, co-portfolio manager of the RS Investments Capital Appreciation Fund (RCAPX) and one of six members of the RS Core Growth Team. “Our high-conviction investment style places a premium on deep fundamental analysis and valuation discipline. These two individuals add an important dimension to the team and complement our capabilities.”

oung and Meeks represent the first additions to the RS Core Growth team since RS Investments acquired RS Capital Appreciation Fund (formerly Oak Value Fund) and hired its investment team in September 2010.

“We are committed to providing our investment teams with the resources they need to pursue investment excellence in service of our clients,” says Terry Otton, chief executive officer of RS Investments. “Investing in smart and experienced professionals is the single-best investment we can make on behalf of our clients.”

Prior to joining RS Investments, Young was a senior equity analyst for Morningstar where he covered the business services industry as team leader as well as the education sector. He is a former United States Army officer, who earned two Bronze Stars for meritorious achievement in combat while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Young earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Meeks joins RS Investments from Morningstar, where he served as an equity analyst focusing on the business and financial services industries. Previously, he was a senior consultant in the capital markets group at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he specialised in alternative assets and financial services. Meeks attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he achieved two Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Management Information Systems.

The addition of Young and Meeks increases the team to six investment professionals who have, on average, more than 15 years’ industry experience. The Core Growth team is led by three co-portfolio managers, David Carr, Christy Phillips, and Larry Coats who have, on average, more than 25 years’ industry experience.
