Turnover on Xetra more than doubles in August

Order book turnover on Xetra and the Xetra Frankfurt specialist trading stood at EUR181.6 billion in August – an increase by 102 per cent year-on-year (August 2010: EUR89.7 billion).

Of the EUR181.6 billion, EUR173.4 billion were attributable to Xetra (+107 per cent y-o-y, August 2010: EUR83.8 billion). EUR8.2 billion were attributable to the Xetra Frankfurt specialist trading, an increase of 38 per cent y-o-y (August 2010: EUR5.9 billion). Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange totalled EUR4.6 billion in August, nearly four times as much y-o-y (+279 per cent, August 2010: EUR1.2 billion).



In equities, turnover reached EUR148.1 billion on Deutsche Börse’s cash markets (Xetra: EUR144.1 billion, Xetra Frankfurt specialist trading: EUR4.0 billion). Turnover in bonds was EUR1.6 billion, and in structured products on Scoach EUR4.4 billion. Order book turnover in mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) amounted to EUR27.5 billion.



A total of 32.2 million transactions were executed on Xetra in August, an increase of 125 per cent y-o-y (August 2010: 14.4 million).



The DAX security with the highest turnover in August was Siemens AG at EUR11.2 billion. Continental AG led the MDAX equities at EUR1.2 billion, while Deutz AG topped the SDAX equity index with EUR125.5 million, and Aixtron SE headed TecDAX with EUR677.9 million. The ETF with the highest turnover on Xetra was iShares DAX with EUR4.7 billion.
