For more than 14 years, Chew led the building of risk reporting, research and portfolio management systems at BlackRock Inc. and for the last five years was Managing Director in BlackRock Solutions where he headed an organisation based in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

Based initially at LOIM’s New York offices and then in Geneva, he reports to Hubert Keller, a Lombard Odier Managing Partner, responsible for LOIM.

“Philip developed a track record at BlackRock in building significant revenue through resilient Risk, IT, Operating and Reporting systems that is second-to-none,” says Keller. “With the understanding of risk at the heart of all we do, his experience and abilities in all these facets will prove invaluable as our business continues to grow.”

Chew, 41, began his career at BlackRock, Inc. in New York in 1997 after completing a postgraduate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

LOIM’s Geneva-headquartered business, a unit of Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie., managed more than $42 billion on behalf of clients at the end of June 2011. The investment management unit offers clients a range of innovative products including thematic investments, convertibles funds, fundamentally weighted fixed income products and manages more than $3 billion in hedge funds. LOIM’s managers seek to deliver performance by identifying sources of both risk and return through absolute return, active and passive strategies.
