AdvisorShares Active Bear ETF lists options on CBOE

AdvisorShares’ Active Bear ETF, the first all-short actively-managed ETF has met listing requirements of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and that HDGE options are now listed for trading on the CBOE.

"This is an exciting moment for the investment community and a milestone for actively managed ETFs. Financial Advisors now have another way to gain access to strategies that could provide ways to insure one’s portfolio. Additionally, it provides an opportunity that actively managed mutual funds can’t afford their clients. Having HDGE be the first equity based actively managed ETF meet CBOE listing requirements to trade options is something we are all very proud of, and further validates the growth and interest by investors in actively managed ETFs," says Noah Hamman, CEO of AdvisorShares.

Among the requirements a security must satisfy before CBOE will list options for it is "distribution." There must be a certain number of outstanding shares, and the shares must be owned by a minimum number of people. Otherwise, ownership of the security is deemed "too highly concentrated."
