Janus Capital Group has announced the appointment of Susan Oh as senior vice president of the firm’s US Institutional Group, effective 3 October, 2011.

In this role, Oh will oversee Janus’ centralised US institutional sales and marketing teams, which support Janus as well as the firm’s subsidiaries, INTECH Investment Management (INTECH) and Perkins Investment Management (Perkins). She will also oversee client service and global consultant relations for Janus, and work alongside the client service and consultant relations teams at INTECH and Perkins. Oh will manage a team of 19 and will report to Robin Beery, executive vice president, US Distribution.

Prior to joining Janus, Oh worked for more than 20 years at JP Morgan, spending most of her career in institutional client-facing roles at JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) in New York and Chicago. For the past seven years, she served as JPMAM’s global consultant strategy sales leader and group head for the Americas consultant sales team. In this position, Oh directed overall strategy with investment consultants, developed consultant marketing strategies, and managed relationships with leading global investment consulting firms.

She also served as the group leader and manager of JPMAM’s Strategic Investment Advisory Group, which provides advisory services to institutional clients. Previously, Oh served for five years as JPMAM’s central region institutional client sales manager for the Americas, serving corporate and public funds, as well as endowments and foundations.

“During the last 18 months, we’ve made steady progress in expanding Janus’ institutional presence by appointing several executives with deep institutional experience, including our CEO Richard Weil, President of Janus CapitalsaysInternational Augie Cheh, and Susan Oh to lead our US institutional efforts,” said Beery. “Recruiting a professional of Susan’s caliber further demonstrates Janus’ commitment to the institutional space and our very clear intention to be a strong and trusted fiduciary partner for our clients.”

Oh received a master’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College. She is a member of the Council of Urban Professionals and the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM).

“Across Janus and its subsidiaries, I’m impressed with the firm’s strong investment focus and its unwavering commitment to serving as reliable stewards of institutional clients’ assets,” Oh says. “I look forward to helping Janus expand its institutional capabilities.”
