The Association of International Life Offices (AILO) has appointed a new Management Committee. The election of new officers took place at AILO’s 2011 AGM on 13 October.
Rachel Panagiodis stands down as Chairman and is replaced by Dr Claudia Lang, Legal and Development Director of Canada Life Assurance Europe Limited. Rachel will remain closely involved with AILO and will remain on the Management Committee as the Immediate Past Chair.
The post of Deputy Chairman is filled by Bob Pain, Sales Director, Friends Provident International. Graham Beevers of IntegraLife International is elected as Treasurer and Tim Davies of HSBC Life (Europe), is re-appointed as Members’ Representative.
In order to reflect the increased activity necessary to keep pace with the changes in today’s markets, AILO is also expanding its Secretariat. Alan Morgan-Moodie remains AILO’s CEO and Christine Hall is AILO’s Marketing Executive. John Beaney, who recently retired from Skandia, is appointed as Legal and Regulatory Executive and will support AILO on a part-time basis to address EU and UK issues for its Membership. Susanne Roberts provides Secretariat duties for AILO from the Luxembourg office.
AILO is reviewing its Constitution with a view to enabling its enlarged Secretariat to join its Management Committee, as well as expanding that Committee to encompass its wider membership.
Claudia Lang, AILO Chairman, says “I am delighted to be taking over the Chairmanship of AILO at such an important time. Regulatory developments in the EU and the UK mean that AILO has plenty to focus on at the moment and I expect this to continue for the foreseeable future. I am grateful to Rachel for all her hard work as Chairman of the Association and to those members of the Management Committee who support AILO in their spare time. The addition of John Beaney to the Secretariat is very timely and will ensure AILO remains at the forefront of EU and UK discussions that impact its Members.”
