US ETF/ETN assets top USD1trn, says NSX

Assets in US-listed Exchange-Traded Funds (ETF) and Exchange-Traded Notes (ETN) reached USD1.08 trillion at October 2011 month-end, according to the National Stock Exchange (NSX). This is an increase of approximately 15% over October 2010 month-end when assets totalled USD940.4 billion. At the end of October 2011, there were 1359 listed products.

ETF net cash flows for the month totalled almost USD23.9 billion, bringing the year-to-date net cash flow total to approximately USD101.6 billion.  

ETF/ETN notional trading volume during October 2011 totalled almost USD2 trillion, representing 34% of all US. equity trading volume.
