Brooks Macdonald Asset Management (BMAM) has appointed Toby Thompson as an Investment Management Director in the firm’s London office.

Thompson, whose previous roles include been managing UK equity portfolios for institutional pension funds and retail OEICs, has over twenty years experience in the investment industry. He was formerly at New Star for eight years and before that at Newton and Eagle Star Investment Managers. He is an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK and currently applying to be MCSI having obtained his PCIAM.

Thompson’s appointment brings the number of investment managers at Brooks Macdonald to 47, with a further 13 trainee investment managers currently in the trainee scheme.

Thompson says: “There were a number of factors about Brooks Macdonald that appealed. Their independence, their excellent reputation within the IFA community and their strong commitment to professional development are all impressive attributes. I was also attracted by the opportunity to be involved in all three strands of private client investment management: managing clients’ money, client service and research.”

Nick Holmes, Joint Managing Director, BMAM, says: “Attracting an individual of Toby’s calibre is a real coup for our business and we are delighted to have someone with his experience and reputation join our investment team. We are continuing to expand the number of investment managers to cater for the support we continue to receive from our professional advisers. Maintaining our service standards to clients and their advisers is a key component of our success.”
