ProShares names Stephen Sachs head of capital markets

ETF provider ProShares has appointed Stephen Sachs to the newly created role of head of capital markets. Sachs, most recently with Diamond Hill Capital Management, will oversee ProShares’ Capital Markets Group. He reports to Steve Cohen, managing director and head of ProShares’ Strategy Group.

"Few people have the deep level of understanding of ETF mechanics and market microstructure as Steve Sachs," says Michael L Sapir (pictured), chairman and CEO of ProShare Advisors LLC, ProShares’ investment advisor. "His experience, along with the strong relationships he brings, will be of significant value as ProShares continues to expand its lineup of alternative ETFs."

Sachs has more than 20 years experience in the institutional trading community. Most recently, he served as director of trading for Diamond Hill Capital Management, an USD8 billion long/short asset manager. Prior to Diamond Hill, Sachs was director of trading at Rydex Investments where he helped build the ETF business and was also a member of Rydex’s Executive Committee, Asset Allocation Committee, Investment Leadership Team, and chair of the Trading Practices Committee.

His knowledge and expertise have made him an often quoted source for many publications including Barron’s and The Wall Street Journal. He has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg TV and Fox Business News on many occasions discussing market conditions and issues affecting the capital markets. Sachs participates in several industry committees including the Investment Company Institute’s Equity Markets Advisory Committee. Sachs has spoken at numerous industry events over the years on the topics of market regulation and structure, ETF trading and macro-economic conditions.

Sachs received his Bachelor of Science in finance from Franklin University. He also studied international relations and economics at The Ohio State University.
