PIMCO to launch ETF version of Total Return mutual fund

PIMCO has set a date for the launch of the exchange-traded fund version of its flagship Total Return Fund. The new ETF will launch on 1 March, 2012 according to a statement on the firm’s website, almost a year after the company first applied for regulatory approval to bring the fund to market.

“The PIMCO Total Return Exchange-Traded Fund (ticker TRXT) is scheduled to list on March 1, 2012,” says the statement. “More information about the fund will be provided as the listing date approaches.”

According to regulatory filings TXRT will have an annual expanse ratio of 0.55 per cent, some 40 basis points cheaper than the ‘A’ class mutual fund version aimed at retail investors. The mutual fund version of the Total Return Fun currently has USD241 billion in assets making it one of the largest fund portfolios in the world.
