Investec Trust has appointed Simon Heart as Legal and Tax Counsel in the group’s long established Jersey office.

As in-house Counsel, Heart will provide internal advice and assistance on legal and tax matters. He will also work with external legal and tax advisers in connection with new and existing trust and company structures.
Heart joins a 48-strong team in Jersey and will strengthen the group’s integrated proposition across a full range of trust and fiduciary services.

Natacha Onawelho-Loren (pic), Head of Legal at Investec Trust, says: “Simon is a welcome addition to the team in Jersey. His knowledge of trust and tax law in the international private client space will give an extra dimension to the team. This is very much in keeping with the innovative and value added approach we take to structuring and preserving assets of the families and individuals we work with.”

Heart joins Investec Trust Jersey from HMRC Solicitor’s Office in London where he practised as a senior lawyer since 2005 gaining particular expertise in business and capital tax matters. He also had conduct of tax and civil disputes at all levels from the First-tier and Upper Tax Tribunals to the Supreme Court, as well as the European Court of Justice. Prior to joining HMRC, Simon gained extensive experience in trust and tax law as a lawyer in the private client department of a City Law firm after qualification and then at the Office of the Official Solicitor and Public Trustee. Simon has been a member of STEP since 2008.
