VelocityShares has appointed Daniel Saieh as Managing Director and Head of Latin American Sales.

Saieh is a 20-year industry veteran and spent the last 10-years at Blackrock (formerly Barclays Global Investors) where he was the Director of Institutional Business Latin America. He was instrumental in building the business in the region. Mr. Saieh’s initial focus is to expand VelocityShares’ presence in Latin America, especially with respect to VelocityShares’ affiliate VelocityCapital Management’s Tail Risk Strategies.

Steve Quinn, Principal and Head of Distribution, says: “VelocityCapital sits at the forefront of the next generation of tail risk hedging solutions. Daniel has a proven track record of building businesses, and we look forward to working with him to deliver new and innovative ideas to institutional investors in Latin America. The expansion of the team is in-line with our strategy of bringing sophisticated products to a wider range of institutional investors.”

Saieh says: “Investors generally recognise the theoretical benefit of adding an exposure to the VIX in a portfolio, but many think the effective cost is prohibitive. VelocityShares has developed a unique solution, and I am excited to introduce these new concepts to institutional investors.”

Saieh joins two recent hires to VelocityShares’ distribution team: Daniel Aronson and Andrew Hicks. Aronson is a Director, and joined VelocityShares from Societe Generale. He works closely with family offices in the development of portfolio management solutions. Hicks is a Vice President providing quantitative analysis and support. Prior to joining VelocityShares he was an equity specialist at Deutsche Bank.
