Baillie Gifford & Co launches retail-friendly share class

Baillie Gifford & Co, the Edinburgh based investment management group, is to offer its institutional B clean share class range to the retail market.

Consequently, the minimum initial investment limit via the B class will be reduced from GBP250,000 to GBP10,000 (there is no minimum for platform investment). The shares will be available later this year.

As a result of this move, most Baillie Gifford equity funds will carry an unbundled annual management fee of 0.65% and the Company’s fixed income range will be priced between 0.25% and 0.65%. Baillie Gifford’s award winning Managed Fund will carry an annual management fee of just 0.40% making it comparable with some passive strategies in the global space.

James Budden (pictured), director of retail marketing and distribution at Baillie Gifford, says: “Our funds now offer significant value in pricing terms, which should prove attractive to investors. It was simpler for us to offer our institutional B share class more widely than to launch a whole new range. Successful long term active management of equities at an average annual charge of 0.65% is an exciting cocktail for intermediaries and their clients.”
