Franklin Templeton enters ETF fray

Investment manager Franklin Templeton is planning its first foray into the world of ETFs with the launch of an actively-managed bond fund.

According to a recent SEC filing: “The Franklin Templeton Short Duration Government ETF, will seek a high level of current income as is consistent with prudent investing, while seeking preservation of shareholder capital. The Fund will seek to achieve its investment goal by investing in a diversified portfolio of short duration fixed income securities, primarily securities issued or guaranteed by the US government, its agencies or instrumentalities.

“The Fund will consist of a portfolio of securities (including fixed income securities and/or equity securities) and/or currencies traded in the US and/or non-US markets and other assets.”
