HSBC Securities Services appoints global head of trustee and fiduciary services

HSBC Securities Services (HSS) has appointed John Cargill as global head of trustee and fiduciary services, reporting to Cian Burke and Drew Douglas, co-heads of HSS.

Cargill will lead the future development of the global trustee and fiduciary proposition across all HSS locations as this product line progresses in an environment which will be significantly impacted by the implementation of both European and global regulation.

His role will encompass both the development of new product opportunities globally and a focus on fiduciary risk in the new regulatory environment. He will also have responsibility for the HSS regulatory and industry affairs offering.

Cargill is a qualified lawyer who joined HSBC in 2005 and is a former chairman of the Depositary and Trustee Association. He has previously held a number of senior positions within HSBC.

Douglas says: “New regulation is making trustee and fiduciary services a key area of focus for our clients. John’s skills as a lawyer coupled with his deep knowledge of our business and the challenges faced by the industry make him a perfect fit for this role.”
