The Stonehage Group, a European multi-family office for ultra-high-net-worth families and entrepreneurs, has strengthened its private client and trust department with the appointment of Rupert Hague-Holmes as a director in its Jersey office.

Hague-Holmes joins Stonehage from Kleinwort Benson, where he was head of legal services and group legal director, working extensively within the company’s trust/fiduciary business.

He previously spent eight years as managing director (legal) for the UK offshore businesses of Close Brothers Group, where he was responsible for all legal, risk, HR and group company secretarial matters for the firm’s operations in Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man and South Africa.

Prior to that, he was a partner in the banking teams at Needham and James and Eversheds.

Ian Crosby, executive director and managing director of Stonehage Trust Holdings, Jersey, says: “With over 20 years’ experience, Rupert is well-known in the industry and brings with him a bespoke set of legal and operational skills. Combined with his skills in business development and private banking relationship management, these will be key in facilitating the Group’s strategic goals and servicing our clients both in Jersey and internationally.”

Hague-Holmes will report to Cora Binchy, executive director and head of Stonehage’s fiduciary operations in Jersey and Switzerland.
