Vestra Wealth Management, the London and Jersey based firm, has appointed Heinz Schmid as fixed income strategist in its investment team.

Schmid has over 30 years’ experience in managing client assets, joining Vestra from Investec Wealth and Investment.

He has previously worked as head of UK fixed income at BNP Paribas and at HSBC Investment Management, where he managed the Sterling fixed income team, advising clients across all asset classes. Earlier in his career, Heinz worked in the Zurich and New York offices of UBS.

David Scott, Vestra’s senior partner, says: “We are delighted with this appointment.  Heinz brings with him a broad range of experience, working in both international and smaller boutique firms, managing and advising fixed income clients from the private sector, friendly societies, charities and trusts. With Heinz’s additional expertise we can continue to improve our highly personalised service that is expected from the Vestra team.”

At the end of December Vestra, which began trading in 2008, reached GBP3.1bn AUM, a growth of 24 per cent in 2012.
