Heartwood’s Managed Portfolio Service awarded 5-star rating

Heartwood Investment Management’s Managed Portfolio Service has achieved a 5-star rating – the highest level of rating for discretionary fund managers (DFMs) – by independent financial research company Defaqto.

The service enables advice firms to outsource their portfolio management offering, allowing them to concentrate on the advice and planning process.

Mark Rockliffe, head of professional intermediary sales at Heartwood Investment Management, says: "We are delighted to have achieved this prestigious independent assessment for our discretionary service to financial advisers. Heartwood Investment Management offers a comprehensive business solution to advice firms, advisers and wealth planners, regardless of a client’s level of investment. To support their advice models we offer a consistent and robust investment process which is almost ‘institutional’ in its nature. Independent qualitative and quantitative assessments such as the Defaqto DFM Star Ratings are invaluable for advice firms when demonstrating the quality of service on offer to their clients."

The Star Ratings, which operate on a scale of one to five, provide an independent quality assessment of managed and bespoke portfolio service propositions, based on the features they offer and the quality of their service offering. A 5 Star Rating indicates that a proposition has one of the best quality service offerings in the intermediated market. To achieve the top 5 Star Rating, a DFM must offer a high level of service and features, including online valuations; in-specie transfers out; consolidated tax statements and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) reports.

Fraser Donaldson, Defaqto’s insight analyst for funds, says: “Defaqto Star Ratings provide an independent assessment of product and service propositions based on the level of features and benefits they offer giving each a rating of 1 to 5 to indicate where they are positioned in the market. We have been researching the DFM market since 2010 and rating DFM propositions, as distributed through Financial Intermediaries since 2012. As a 5 Star proposition, Heartwood’s offering represents one of the best in the market.”

Heartwood’s investment portfolios are also available through a range of multi asset funds, which give advisers additional access to Heartwood’s investment process and can be deployed through most major wrap platforms and tax wrapper products. Heartwood has links with some SIPP and offshore bond providers in the UK market and also appears on the panel for certain tax wrapper products.
