Sanlam Private Investments has made several new senior appointments across the UK as part of its plan to strengthen its regional footprint in the private client and wealth management space.

Simon Woodiwiss joins as senior investment manager for the South East private client team from Barclays Private Banking and will be based in the London office.

Paul Mansfield joined the South West regional private client team as an investment manager and is based in Marlow. He was previously at stockbrokers Hargreave Hale and played professional rugby for London Welsh RFC while working in the financial sector.

At the same time, Jonty Warneken has been appointed in the lynchpin role of head of intermediary services, North, and will be based in Harrogate. Prior to this he was a director at Da Ponte Consulting and Wealthmasters Financial Management. Warneken will have responsibility for building SPI’s intermediary business in the North and will be looking to assemble a team in the coming months.

Simon Lee joins the intermediary services team as a senior investment manager, from Peregrine Advisory Services where he was a wealth manager investment analyst.

Other senior appointments include Stuart Rosling and Dean Sherrin, who join as private client advisory stockbrokers, Rosling from Killick and Co Stockbrokers, where he looked after high net worth private clients in an advisory as well as discretionary capacity, and Sherrin from TJ Markets where he was a private client adviser. Finally, Charles Long joins Sanlam Securities as mining analyst from Singer Capital Markets.

Eloise Cox and Nick Wessels join the burgeoning wealth management team as paraplanners from Armstrong Watson Financial Planners and Alexander Forbes respectively.

Craig Massey (pictured), chief executive of Sanlam Private Investments, says: “This latest tranche of senior appointments forms part of our plan to build up our presence across the whole UK, with a view to increasing our asset base and range of services available to investors. We believe that the recruitment of talented investment professionals and leaders is a key element in providing a superior service for our clients as well as being one of the key drivers of our growth internationally.

“Actions speak louder than words and the fact that we are recruiting across the private client, wealth management, securities and intermediary services side is a sign of SPI’s commitment both to clients and financial advisers.”
