Exchange-traded fund provider ProShares has made two key new hires: Ramesh Babu as chief technology officer and William Poulin as head of product management.
Babu, former chief technology officer, NY for Allianz Global Investors, is responsible for providing strategic direction and management of ProShares’ technology infrastructure. He reports to Tim Coakley, chief financial officer.
Poulin, former head of product strategy and development for Columbia Management, is charged with product positioning and targeting, and ensuring product-related initiatives are prioritised and supported in an integrated fashion. He reports to Steve Cohen, managing director and head of strategy.
“We are pleased Ramesh and Bill have joined the ProShares team,” says Michael L Sapir (pictured), chairman and chief executive of ProShare Advisors. “Both are highly skilled and seasoned professionals with over 20 years experience in their fields. Their contributions will play an important role in our continued success as the leader in alternative ETFs.”
Babu has extensive experience in delivering business-driven IT solutions in large global financial services organisations. He has strong business knowledge with in-depth expertise in application development, data management, customer relationship management (CRM), business intelligence, security, business continuity and disaster recovery.
Prior to Allianz Global Investors, Babu held senior IT roles with Neuberger Berman and Lehman Brothers.
Poulin has a broad background in domestic and international marketing of intermediary-sold funds and institutional asset management, with experience in product line oversight, marketing, product development and multi-channel distribution strategy.
Prior to Columbia Management, where he helped develop the firm’s first alternative strategies, Poulin held senior product management and marketing roles at Fidelity Investments, Lifeharbor, Pioneer Investments, and John Hancock Funds.
